What is an Antigen test?

This COVID-19 test is similar to a flu test and provides results within 30 minutes. The purpose of an antigen test is to detect the nucleocapsid protein found in the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is the cause of COVID-19. Our tests (powered by Vector Health) look for these fragments of antigens in order to detect if you have COVID-19.

How do Antigen tests work?

Our tests are done through nasal cavity swabs which are first placed into a special solution for virus detection.

The advantage of antigen tests is the speed that one is able to view their results. PCR tests detect the genetic material from the virus, meanwhile antigen tests test for the virus’ proteins.

Although it is a cheaper and faster alternative to PCR tests, the downside is that it is mainly accepted only for USA travel.
